Dear Friends of Jesuit Retreat Center,
In my photo library, I have an image of autumn trees in golds and reds and oranges with the caption “October is my favorite color”. While the grounds of JRC are beautiful in a different way in each season, I must admit that autumn is indeed my favorite. Crisp mornings and cooler days, the scents of the fall – maple and pumpkin and apple, the softer sunshine coloring the sky, the crunch of leaves underfoot all combine to make this time of year special for me, each time we make the circuit ‘round the sun. Of course another highlight is that the rhythms of the house change dramatically this time of year as we move from the silence of summer retreats to the joyous refrains of high school and college students (amongst many others) throughout the building in the months ahead...
