Come, join the gathered community as we explore the contemplative way through the teaching of James Finley. Drawing from his experience as a former monk and spiritual directee of Thomas Merton, Jim offers trustworthy guidance for engaging the path of deepening intimacy with God through contemplative prayer. In this beautiful text, Jim shares his own inner journey and introduces us to some of the original teachings of classical spiritual writers. He offers guidance and encouragement as we respond to the call to silence, solitude and contemplative prayer.
These four study/prayer sessions are designed to enrich your personal spiritual deepening for ministry and will include prayer, input, and faith-sharing, based on your prayerful reading of the text. To facilitate the process, chapter assignments will be communicated and should be read in advance. The only pre-requisite for participating in these sessions is a desire to embrace God in the whole of your life.
“The contemplative way is like a monastery without walls, a gathering place for people who are searching for something more—something more meaningful, intimate, and richly present to the gift and miracle of their own life.” -Author, James Finley, Ph.D.
