Growing in Friendship with Jesus

A weekend retreat on growing beyond formal religion into lifegiving spirituality, with Fr. Bernie Owens, SJ.

This will be a weekend composed of a series of talks by Fr. Owens on the various aspects of mature, sacred friendship that grows into deep, selfless love both with people in your life and with Jesus and His Father.

Themes will be taken from the beautiful and very moving encyclical on the Sacred Heart of Jesus that Pope Francis recently authored, just last October 24 (2024). These themes will help us all probe more deeply into the spirituality of friendship with our neighbor, with the most important people in our lives, and especially with Jesus and the Father. As Jesus says, “I have come that you might have life and have it to the full.” (John 10:10). This retreat will offer you, then, an excellent opportunity to grow more deeply in friendship with and love for God.

During the retreat there will be times for silent prayer and times for sharing for those who wish to talk with another retreatant or in a small group. Those who wish to be in silence for the entire time can be assured of that possibility. So, sharing will not be imposed; rather, we want all to have the freedom to choose what “works” better for them.
