Join us for a virtual journaling retreat on wisdom and aging.
As some have noted, becoming a wise person is the definitive life task of our elder years, when we find a wholeness about our lives. We do this mostly with inner work. This life task includes consciously harvesting the goodness of our lives and integrating negative past experiences positively into them. Called “sage-ing” it is a “new rite of passage,” or an “elderessence.” It is a stage of life new to humanity in the past 50 years, as more of us live well beyond our official retirement age.
Moving from just ageing to embodying wisdom is an on-going process. During our sessions, we will journal about our sage-ing in exploring some of its components noted here:
Questioning Big Living Gratefully Forgiving and Reconciling Reframing the Past
Attending to Dark Spaces Accepting Our Dying Serving Life Harvesting Our Lives
Each session will include short presentations, several reflective writing periods of 10-15 minutes each, guidance about journal keeping techniques, and the sharing of insights among participants.
