In-Person
Friday, April 2, 4:30pm - Sunday, April 4, 2027 11:30am
This weekend retreat is composed of a series of talks by Fr. Hyland, SJ, on six different types of tears we may experience in life.
Through Fr. Hyland's sharing of his own personal stories, coupled with time for individual prayer and reflection, retreatants will grow towards greater intimacy with Christ, and better recognize His presence in their relationships.
As St. Ignatius insists in the Spiritual Exercises, God the Creator desires to communicate directly with creation. A common way to pray in Ignatian Spirituality is the Examen. It encourages that an "emotional inventory" be taken each day. By paying attention to our joys as well as our sorrows, we better detect how Christ is present alongside us, as much as in our laughter, as in our tears.
The final day will include an opportunity to share the graces of the retreat, and to ask questions that may have arisen during the retreat.
Fr. Patrick Hyland, SJ is a Jesuit priest from Cleveland with a passion for helping others deepen their relationship with Christ through Ignatian spirituality. His ministry has included teaching, spiritual formation, and service in the United States, Ecuador, and Spain. Drawing from his own experiences of faith and prayer, Fr. Hyland invites retreatants to discover God's presence in the joys and challenges of everyday life. You can learn more about Fr. Hyland, here.
