The Jesuit Retreat Center invites you to celebrate the Feast of St. Ignatius Loyola!
The founder of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) and the patron saint of retreats, we give thanks for Ignatius’s life and openness to following the will of God. Ignatius was a true mystic who took on the clothes of a beggar and humbled himself to learn from God and others. This gave birth to his writings in the Spiritual Exercises: a gift to the world and a guide for retreat directors. A key part of this spirituality is expressed in the Jesuit motto, Ad majorem Dei gloriam—“for the greater glory of God.” Based on his conversion from military fame to a cannonball shattering his leg in battle, the Spiritual Exercises assist our “discernment” and offer a pathway to deepen our true desire in life: a relationship with God. Ignatius focused the spiritual life on the essential foundations of Christianity: the Trinity, Christ, and the Eucharist. The Jesuit Retreat Center of Cleveland, Ohio invites you to be a part of this spirituality, history, and this Eucharist celebration!
Location: Main Chapel of the Jesuit Retreat Center
